How can I display my computer videos on my television?
Posted by: | CommentsFor a day now, I have been futily trying to connect my laptop to my television so that I can watch videos from my laptop on my tv monitor, and I cannot correctly match up the ports on my laptop with the cable that will allow me to connect the signal from the laptop with my tv
my laptop has usb ports, a female vga port, a mini hdmi port, esata usb 2.0 port
my tv has white, yellow and red composite cables (s video and video – in) as well as a really puzzling looking female dvi port in the back.
What would be the cheapest set of cables and adapters to accomplish this?
Writing for Film and Television Major (looking for advice on college)?
Posted by: | CommentsHi, I’ll cut right to the chase.
My desired major is ‘Writing for Film and Television’ (or Screenwriting/Playwriting, depending on where you go). I have been accepted into four schools, but am unsure as to where I should go. Keep in mind that I am not terribly interested in playwriting, and mostly WfFaT.
Emerson- The most prestigious school on my list, for sures. However it’s also more than 40,000 dollars. I can’t figure out if that’s too much to warrant me going there, despite it being the most reputable. Is it worth it?
University of the Arts- All arts, and I know it would offer some really deep concentration in the major, since it’s not a university. I think I like philly a little better than boston, and it’s about 10G cheaper. But is it good enough?
Drexel – I will get 13,000 dollars if I go here, which will knock tuition to below 20, but I haven’t read any glowing reviews for the program in this school at all. Can someone let me know?
SUNY Purchase – about 20,000, but I’ve heard it concentrates in playwriting more. Will a stateschool be enough to cement a career in the future?
I guess I’m just looking for the best school, specific to my major. I’m having a lot of trouble deciding.
Shotgun Microphone for television shoot with a Canon XL2? Suggestions?
Posted by: | CommentsI am looking to obtain a shotgun boom mic for a television-level of quality type shoot. Our budget is at $1000 for the microphone, but would obviously prefer to go cheaper if possible. I have heard good things about the Sennheiser ME66 and some AT mics as well. Our shots are not done on a sound stage, though generally in quiet sets. Getting directional sound is important, however, with little ambient pickup.
The best example would be to pick up a conversation between two people at a crowded restaurant, with the microphone approximately 5-6 feet away and above, held on a stick.
All suggestions are appreciated.
